The Toowoomba Wordsmiths were started in 2011 by Emma MacTaggart and Susannah Birch. The group published their first anthology, Words From Toowoomba, in 2012. They currently have over 100 people on their email list and see anywhere from 6-20 attend their monthly meetings.
Members range from school students through to journalists, bloggers, script writers, editors, published and unpublished authors who write on everything from poetry through to nonfiction and a wide range of genres.

The Green Chicken Writers was hatched in 2011 by a U3A group of would-be writers, originally under the tutelage of Diane Bruhn.
Encouraged to write and share biographical stories at weekly meetings, their fellowship soon gave them plumage, their stories took flight and they published a collection of them in November 2012.
Why the title? Well, you’ll have to read the book.Green Chicken Writers
